Cindy and Ryan met in Mexico and live in California. They flew all the way from the US to Sintra for their proposal.

Monserrate, in Sintra, was quiet that morning. The sky was overcast, and the gardens almost to themselves.

Ryan proposed to Cindy on the mythical terrace of Palácio de Monserrate, where the gardens open up below toward the valley. After the yes, the rest of the morning belonged to them. 

We walked down through the park, all the way to the lake, and then headed up to the ruins. The atmosphere in the ruins is different, cooler and quieter.

Monserrate is one of the places I suggest to couples who want a proposal in Sintra that feels intimate, and still like a fairytale. 

Cindy and Ryan chose it well.
