Castelo de São Jorge is one of the most romantic places to propose in Lisbon. 

The castle sits on the city's highest hill, with quiet corners, centuries of history, and a view that holds the whole city in a single frame.

From the ramparts you see Alfama tumbling toward the river, the orange rooftops, the white domes, the 25 de Abril bridge in the distance, and the Tejo opening to the Atlantic. At sunset, the light turns golden and lingers longer than it does anywhere else in the city. It is the kind of light that makes a proposal feel timeless before it has ended.
